Fashion: The return to Vintage clothing

Fashion: The return to Vintage clothing

By Shade Olaoye, Abuja

It is often said that history will always repeat itself which is very true in all aspects of life including fashion. Slowly but surely, we can see a play back, sort of like a flash back in reality as the fashion scene becomes covered with vintage, black and white and the classics!

Here are 5 old school wears you’d be happy to rock with out feeling grey

Crop tops

This started in the 80s where it was worn by sports men and gym women before moving over to becoming a fashion play. With this trend resurfacing, there is every cause to work on that belly fat and get ready to show some skin! It can be worn with a flirty skirt to give you that edgy look or a business, ready to go blazer.

Denim jacket

Cool, classic and always appealing, the word for it back then was funky. All the way from the West where it was ripped off the backs of cowboys and mine workers to gracing the stage of Marilyn Monroe and Madonna. You can do no wrong with this valuable vintage collection as they can be worn over almost anything.

Dungarees

Popularly known as overalls, these casuals are playful and sporty. Although they might not be the most figure-flattering piece, they definitely ace when it comes to looking cool and relaxed. After all, cloths do not always have to hug our form to be dope.

Shoulder pads

Have the weight of the world on your shoulder with this re-surging style. Designed to give the illusion of one having broader and less sloping shoulders, these pads help you to make a powerful statement.

Pegged jeans or boyfriend jeans

This new boyfriend jeans looks like something your boyfriend’s designer made for him with your measurements. They are free and comfortable and give you that lazy relaxed look and at the same time, with the right accessories can make you look like a chic business woman.
