Exposed! How Karu Int’l Market Was Re-Commissioned 16 Years After
By Gaaden Puun, Lafia
For most residents of Mararaba, Ado and Oneman villages that jointly host the rechristen Muhammadu Buhari International Market,  Karu, Tuesday,  February 5th, 2018 will ever go down in their memories as the day of a presidential deceipt. This was the day President Muhammadu Buhari came to recommission a market earlier commissioned on the 9th of November,  2002 by former president Olusegun Obasanjo.
Chief Obasanjo was invited to commission the market 16 years ago by the then governor Abdullahi Adamu.

The then Karu International Market was commissioned by former president Olusegun Obasanjo at exactly 12pm on 9th November, 2002 but the Government of Nassarawa state brought president Mohammadu Buhari to commission the same market again as part of the 15 projects alledgedly executed by Governor Umaru Tanko Almakura last Tuesday.

What baffles the residents was the physical presence of the same former governor, now a serving Senator, Abdullahi Adamu who was sitting next to president Buhari at the event.
The unsuspecting President Buhari had commissioned the market along other 14 state projects in Lafia,  Kwandere and Karu same day.
Aljazirah Nigeria investigation however,  revealed that the Karu International Market was initiated in 1992 by the Social Democratic Party, SDP regime of Governor Fidelis Tapgum in the old Plateau state.
With a World Bank loan of $10bn, the project was at 45 percent when the regime of Tapgum was toppled later in 1993 by General Sani Abacha.
Throughout the military era of the late despot, nothing was done on the project beyond the fencing by the 2nd Military Administrator of Nasarawa state, Col. Mande.
The regime of the First Executive governor of the state,  Alhaji Abdullahi Adamu pushed signaficant resources into the project thus bringing it to 97 percent thus inviting his political boss, Chief Obasanjo for commissioning on 9th November 2002.
Aljazirah Nigeria reliably source revealed that the “only work done by Gov. Almakura is the worship centre and outskitch ring road surrounding the multi billion Anita market”.
Investigation also revealed that the portrait indications that the market was earlier commissioned were removed a week before the arrival of president Buhari last week.
We also gathered that the shops at the market were last year allocated to proxies and spouses of the APC state government. The allocation committee excerpted the real traders at the Orange market,  M araraba, Ado, Masaka markets respectively.
Officials from Government House,  Sheds Road, Lafia and the Muhammadu Buhari International Market,  Karu were not willing to offer explanations on this abnormality when Aljazirah Nigeria placed calls.
